The Key to the Gate

Keys like this one are not easy to come by. Actually, that’s not true, it’s quite easy, you just get your name on the list and then wait. It’s the waiting that’s the tricky bit, the ‘how long is a piece of string?’ issue. For us the string was over 2 years long and this is the key that opens the gate to our Plot Number 17. At long last we have inherited a waist high patch of weedy grass, rubbish, bits of wood, old bins, some brambles (blackberries), at least one enormous ant nest and what may be a currant bush. Met a few fellow plotters who all extended friendly welcomes which is great as we’ll no doubt be looking to tap into their various skill sets and experiences in the months ahead and maybe we’ll provide some light entertainment as we stumble forward across our undulating piece of land with a trusty strimmer.
